Okay, so I don’t usually go to strip clubs to see a live performer. Maybe it’s just me, I don’t know, but if you can get the naked girls away from the corner of your eye, you just may be able to watch the performance (music I mean). Okay so the guys might like it. At Close to the Edge, I caught Gregg Huet performing on stage and yes, he kept his clothes on.
Greg Huet plays guitar and if you’ve read my previous reviews, you know that goes a long way with me. Greg is more than adequate. Although the stream was a little distorted, you could still hear an amazing guitar player through it.
His voice is strong, but not overbearing. It’s mellow when it needs to be and forceful when called upon. He put it all out for us on “The Show” and led into a crazy rendition of Avril’s “When You’re Gone” before a soft performance of “Collide”.
“Slides off her pole and seductively walks over to”, ooops, hard to keep the strippers off the screen.
Greg is a very talented musician and once he got his bass under control, the sound improved drastically. He’s a story teller and tells them well. He kinda gets you dreaming and you don’t want to wake up. On “Two Steps Behind”, he had me drifting into another realm.
His music is diverse, from Clapton and Lennon to Lionel Ritchie to Def Leppard. He covers a fair bit. Most moving was a song called “The Little Things”. It’s a lovely song but made even more so when you know his wife wrote it and he’s singing it. Maybe a little more originality in Second Life® is in order. Hmmm.
Gregg is a great communicator. Not only in the songs but he loves to chat between songs too. He’s sure to acknowledge everyone and tries to be aware of what’s happening in the club. (Okay probably not hard to do in a strip club). But you know what I mean.
Gregg’s set list continued with “Imagine” and after a guitar change “Little Wonders”. Yes I did say guitar change. It is nice to hear something a little bit different and Gregg satisfied me in that regard. Performing songs by Lighthouse and The Eagles, Gregg just continues to cool you out.
I really feel music has gotten a little stagnant in Second Life® lately, but with artists like Gregg Huet, it’s a sign that the life may be coming back. A simply fantastic version of “Wonderful Tonight” and “When She Loves You” put a cap on the evening for me. He even did an encore of “Knockin on Heaven’s Door”.
And by the way, Greg got married the night before this concert to Emma. Congratulations to you both.
