Singing for your own entertainment is how a lot of Second Life® artists begin and Saffron Albatros claims to be no different. Singing professionally or at least in front of a live audience is something else. Opening with “Come Away With Me” at the Syl Darcy Art Gallery, Saffron proved that the transition seems to be easier than we might think. She performed the song brilliantly with a voice that held true not missing a note and delivering it with softness and reverence. Following with “Passionate Kisses” gave us a glimpse at her range. Whether mellow or not, the delivery is equally as good.
Saffron Albatros is a covers artist so expect to hear a variety of tunes and while she claims to do mostly country, it didn’t appear that way at the beginning. With “Son Of A Preacher Man” she continued with a strong voice accompanied by backing tracks that were definitely not overbearing and subtly provided the platform for her to showcase her vocal talent.
She crosses the genre lines providing you with an abundance of fun listening. She did a subtle and sweet yet deliberate version of “Mustang Sally” sending a few little goose bumps down my arm.
Between songs, Saffron is a charming as when she’s performing. Not shy but not aggressive she seems to prefer to let her singing voice do the communicating. She’s brief between songs and with her performance you don’t mind so much. Her range is many as evident on “Black Velvet”
The types of artists, genres they perform and styles they deliver are vast in Second Life®. You have a choice no matter what your preference. Saffron delivers her songs exquisitely with drive and provides an atmosphere for you to enjoy what she does. Speaking of genres and her claim to country, she offered us a magnificent choice in “Jolene” and followed that with “Strawberry Wine” proving her self more than capable in that genre.
Her trademark song “These Boots Were Made For Walking” was done as a cross between the original and Jessica’s version but with more pizazz but in a fun and definitely sexy way. This is where the singing for your own entertainment comes in handy as it makes the performer comfortable when performing in a fun and cute way.
The fun was turned up a notch with “Sin Wagon” and level kept high with “It Happens” making Saffron show the kind where you just can’t sit still. The country portion of her show carried on with “Leave The Pieces” before venturing into “Sunrise” but never leaving the fun and lightness behind.
Saffron closed an hour’s worth of joyous entertainment with “Morning Song”, “Fever” and “Foolish Games”.
After seeing Saffron Albatros, I’m kind of glad that she doesn’t just sing for her own entertainment anymore.
