FFLEWDDUR LLANFAIR "Thin White Duke"

by Jenny Heying
.
Fflewddur LLanfair is not the quintessential second life performer. His song list is not one you'll hear very much inworld. In fact you probably won't hear these songs unless you see Fflew live. From the Crash Test Dummies to U2 and everything in between, Flew does all the songs you want to hear but seldom do.

In front of a sparse crowd at the Stardust Cafe, where he plays a regular gig, Fflewddur performed classic rock songs in a style all his own.

Where Ffew really stands out his covers of Bowie songs. Not only does he do so well that David would be extremely proud, but he also resembles him, take a look at his profile pic. Blue Jean, Heroes, Ziggy Stardust, Suffragette City and a few other choice Thin White Duke tunes, Flew shines when he does Bowie and he even attempted Jean Genie for me, but quit before he was done saying it wasn't his night. I've heard him do it before and he is just too modest.

Aside from his avatar being stuck in a crazy dance mode, Flewddur plays his guitar memorably and fitting to his style of rock. His play is determined and his voice is raunchy. It's sex without the sex and that's fine with me. When he speaks, your knees get weak. When he sings, your knees give out. With Ffew, it's all about his voice, or is it?. Yes he has an amazing voice, but his guitar, banter and antics are not far behind. He has it all as a performer.

Fflew can be mellow, he can be raunchy, he can be saucy, he can be sweet. He will definitely keep your eyes focused on the stage and your ears fixed to the songs. And you don't have to like Bowie to appreciate Fflew, but if you are a Bowie fan, then you'll love Fflewddur. Be sure to check him out on a second life stage near you.
