HARMONIA TREFOIL "Nostalgic"

by Jenny Heying

By chance I took in a performance at Main Street Square in Norstrillia. I'm glad I did, partly out of nostalgia, partly out of pride for female performers. Harmonia Trefoil gave me that nostalgic feeling. Opening with Linda Ronstadt's Long Long Time and following into Still Of The Night left me feeling like I was in a world a long long time ago. Harmonia is relatively new to second life (Nov 2007) but is a seasoned singer and entertainer. Her vocals are crisp and her renditions of classic songs like Hit Me With With Your Best Shot is just incredible. Before a crowd of just over 25 people, Ms Trefoil entertained as only a queen of folk can do.

While she seemed to falter a bit on Dido's Here With Me, she made up for it on Come To My Window and every song that followed. Harmonia was a joy to listen to and her personality is as impressive judging by her between song conversation.

Sometimes in second life, you get a little tired of hearing the same songs performed over and over. While Harmonia did do a few songs I haven't heard done much here, I certainly didn't mind hearing ones I have heard before. She puts her own stamp on a song. Even a song like Rockin Robin has Harmonia's stamp. I wouldn't have considered this a song I liked, but Harmonia's rockin version was a wonder. Harmonia's mellower side on Wind Beneath My Wings showed that she can croon with the best of them. Anyway you want it, you get it with Harmonia.

On the raunchier side, she gave her rendition of Black Velvet and gave Alanna Myles a run for her money. Following that with Fever, gave me chills. On this night she played mostly requests from the audience and she seemed to enjoy the chance to sing what the crowd wanted. And you know what? I didn't even mind the line dancers. lmao.

Looking over her song list, Harmonia does a wide range of genres and I wish I could hear them all. Oh well, it'll take time.

If the future of second life lives within it's performers, it is performers like Harmonia Trefoil that hold the future of second life in their voices. Harmonia is talented, versatile and a joy to listen to. Give her a listen, you'll be glad I told you to.
