You should have seen it, Angee Seetan was in the house at Gia's and if you missed it, you missed a good time. Sweet, Soft and Romantic with a touch of country and lots of personality. That's the best way to describe the evening. Her one hour, 13 song set; was best summed up when Mutley Latte said, "You forget how good some songs are". The evening was sponsored by "Pawsome Designs", and was not only musically entertaining but the crowd had a good time making Angee laugh during one of her numbers. Pulling the whole experience together into an evening designed to get the crowd involved or let you float away to the melody. Songs like "Stuck in the Middle with You", "I'll be There” - by the Spinners, and "Lets Stay Together” (she dedicated that to her boyfriend) had the crowd making comments such as "Beautiful voice Angee".
But it wasn't all slow and soft, the good times started when Arwin suggested she sing "The Laundry Song", don't ask... You just have to hear it yourself to believe it. However, she's uses a backing track system for her music and there was times that she struggled with the system, giving us those moments where you truly had to entertain yourself. But if you’ve ever been to Gia's, you would know that’s never hard for the group to do. Also, she was a bit under the weather and her music was selected so that her full range could not be heard.
I play piano and only wish I could sing but I do know that when my piano is out of tune, I never give my best performance and I suspect, neither did she. I would be really interested to hear her again when she's feeling better to get her full range. On a personal note, I never really like performers to book back-to-back performances, as Angee did. The act tends to run away fast to get to the next gig. I understand it, but part of the performance is interacting with the crowd afterwards and allowing people to see your personality off the stage. But that's just my little rant.
The evening started with a welcome to a new member of the Gia's family, our first coverguy. A good time was had throughout the evening discussing what his name tag would be and out of 4 possible choices; it came down to "Gia's GQ Coverguy". SO it was appropriate to end the evening with a song for him... "I'm here for The Party". And so was I, I'm looking forward to her next set here at Gia's.
