RARA DESTINY "Unbelievable"

by jenny heying

Due to a double booking (??), the scheduled performer did not show at Gia’s Fashon Cabaret on Wednesday. But as luck would have it, Rara Destiny was in the crowd and offered to fill in. After approximately 40 minutes and quite a few technical issues, she took the stage and let out her golden voice. From down under, Rara was a treat to behold, leading off with an Aussie tune “Where I Stood”. Following up with “Bubbly” showed how soft, sweet, yet strong this lady’s voice is. On “Just Breathe”, she showed the appreciative crowd just how good. Her voice is smooth, her singing mellow and her song choice impeccable. Rara was definitely a treat.

Rara accompanies herself on acoustic guitar. She does an admirable job. Okay, she’s not the best guitarist in the world, but wow, you don’t notice it with her voice. Her voice on “Home” sent shivers down my spine. It really is what Rara is all about. You can sit back, dream, get lost in never never land but all the while hearing this amazing voice.

Even between songs, her voice is amazing. She’s soft spoken, sounds innocent, but is a pleasure to your ears. You could really listen to her give a speech all night. But she didn’t. She sang. And Sang.

A cover of Kiss’ “I Was Made For Loving You” was totally unique. Don’t expect the Kiss version, this one was slowed down and made into the most romantic version of a song I’ve heard. Then she did it again on Tears For Fear’s “Mad World”. Wow, I’ve never heard covers done this incredibly well and different before. She truly is amazing. She wont’ rock you out, oh no, but what she does do is lull you into a euphoric place that is soothing and mellow.

Her set listed include “Wicked Game” , “Not Pretty Enough” ,”Walking After Midnight”, My Island Home” , “Ain’t No Sunshine” , “When I See You Smile” and “Beautiful”. (apologies, due to technical difficulties, I missed a couple songs) and completed her soulful performance leaving you wondering when you’ll hear her next. This incredible woman gave one the better shows I’ve seen in Second Life ™ and you’ll say the same thing when you get out to one of her shows. Unbelievable!!!
