EVAMOON EMBER "Original Talent"

by julieanne rau
Talent, Talent, Talent….

With so much going for EvaMoon Ember, I wondered why only sixteen people showed up for her performance at Gia’s Fashion Cabaret, a performance that was littered with originality and comedy. Oh well, such is the way with Second Life® I guess. If you are one of her followers, you will know this girl doesn’t do covers. Everything is original. When she asks for requests you have to think of not just your favorite song but your favorite song she wrote. And there is quite a list to choose from.
She told me “UPS Guy” was probably her most requested song. She wrote it for her sister who married one. Something to do about a man in uniform, I’m not sure. When marriage is spoken my eyes usually glass over a bit. Other songs EvaMoon performed were “Monsoon”, “Fly Away”, “Bailout Man” and of course the Christmas Classic “Light the Fucking Candle” which was the last song of the night.

She has a soft and sweet voice and uses the back track from her real life band, the “Lunatics”. She doesn’t hold back, as you can see from the titles of her songs and yet it’s done in such a manner as it’s not noticeable. The music is the focus and not so much the words. Don’t get me wrong, I spent half the night laughing. But each song has a wonder melody that keeps the voice controlling you.

She sings a mix of Cabaret, Jazz, and Comedy with a large portion of chocolate stuck in there somewhere. She’s the kind of person, by her own admission, that can take any conversation and convert it into sex and blend it into a funny original song. She connects with the audience by reading and commenting on the chat, is personable and generally easy to like. Her act is one that I won’t comment on changing. In hind sight, maybe because she connected with me and it felt like “girls night out”. We laughed at all the things we can’t change in our lives, like men and food we love to hate. Like her webpage says, “think of Sheryl Crow meets Lily Tomlin” and you’ve got EvaMoon Ember. Well worth some of your time in Second Life®.
