MAPOO LITTLE "Extravaganza"

by jenny heying

Living up to the billing as Second Life’s® biggest singing sensation sounds like a huge task. To find out I ventured over to Jade’s Jazz Island to catch the Mapoo Little show.

With Second Life® bringing in the New Year with the usual issues, Mapoo crashed a couple times before finally beginning her show. Singing Sensation? WOW. Mapoo is more than that. She opened her show with a whole lot of flash and fanfare while reclining on a boudoir chaise. Drawing her audience to her she led off with Gwen Stefani’s “What You Waiting For” before following up with “Forgive Me” by Leona Lewis and kicking back to Gwen’s “Cool”.

Mapoo is a dynamic performer with an incredibly strong voice. Not only can she sing brilliantly but her show is something to behold. It’s tight and rehearsed, but not so rehearsed that she can’t interact with the crowd. She does that matter of factly and you really do feel you are at a live production. Ms. Little uses every inch of the stage moving from side to side and ensuring everyone has a view of her performance.

She owns every song she sings. While they are all covers, Mapoo adds her own personality and her versions grab your attention. Her covers of “I Learn From The Best”, “And I’m Telling You I’m Not Going” and “Better Be Good” blew me away. She knows no genre and performs everything from Jennifer Holliday to Rhianna and everything in between. Even though she uses backing tracks, half the time you’d never know it. She blends them well with her voice and her voice leads every song. You follow her voice as you should.

Ms. Little nails every song she attempts, including U2’s “One”, “I Kissed A Girl” and “Disturbia”.

The Mapoo Little Show is quite the show. It really is an extravaganza and something not to be missed. It’s different from most live shows in Second Life®. Incredibly different. Mapoo belts out songs with conviction and I believe there’s no song she can’t tackle. While her show is tight, you are included and she doesn’t forget to let you know. She is definitely not an amateur and could give lessons to quite a few performers.

Also performed by Mapoo this night were “I Need A Miracle”, “Money Money Money”, “Gimme Gimme Gimme”, “Maneater”, "Happy New Year", "Spotlight", "I Hear A Symphony"

Closing with the same fanfare, Mapoo retired to her chaise while singing "I Hear A Symphony" before drawing the curtains on a spectacular peformance.

Is Mapoo Little Second Life’s® biggest singing sensation? DEFINITELY.
