When an artist opens with Lou Reed's "Perfect Day" you just know you are in for an experience. And an experience is just what you get from POL Arida. This vodka drinking Scot from Edinburgh hammers his way through a variety of classic rock songs. Leading into "This Time", his unique sound resonates throughout the sim.
Hammering (POL) is what this Scot is all about. His guitar is direct, sometimes violent, but definitely intense. And I think the 40 or so people at Vincent agreed with me. But along with that driving, striking sound from his guitar, emanates a raspy voice that captures your attention and locks it away. His covers are unique his originals inspiring. His Scottish accent is luscious and inticing.
There's just something about a Scottish voice doing Talking Head's "Psycho Killer" that is...well.. psycho. But in a good way. He covers it all, including the Eurythmics.
Between songs, POL is just as inticing. He promotes his songs, videos, website of course (cultx.com),but he comes off as a loving gent and an interesting person. His songs confirm that. He even does a song (?) "Someone is calling your name" and manages to incorporate all the audience members' names into it. Yes even mine. LOL. It gives you chills to hear your name and does make it all that much more real.
POL Arida is really about his own music. He writes and records and listen or read his words, cause he really has something to say. "How many does it take to change it all, just 1, and that's you". His songwriting is extraordinary and I found myself constantly jumping to his website to read the words. But the best effect is just listening. It's insightful, it's ingenious, and it's hopeful.

Aside from the above mentioned songs, his set list included Get Out Of Here, Catch The Wind, Here Comes The Rain Again, Deathbed Love Song, One, Where The Birds Fall, Welcome To Winter and The Last Song.
POL has not been in second life a long time, but I hope he stays for quite some time. He's worth seeing, listening to and overall, enjoying.
