When I saw that Ande Foggarty covered some of my favorite singers, I decided to TP over to Bella Vita for his show. Ande started the show with a cover of John Denver's “Country Roads” and he did the song justice. He followed his opening song with “Fly Away” which suited his voice perfectly. He had someone with a lovely voice helping him with harmony but failed to introduce her at that time. (He finally introduced her as Rhonda Magic just before their duet.). Ande went through acknowledging everyone in the audience before launching into a “Fire and Rain” cover from James Taylor.
Ande's billing says he is a self-taught guitarist and pianist and he plays the guitar well. (We didn’t get to hear the piano this night). The music of the 70's is his favorite and he believes the "Beatles are the best band ever". I just happen to agree with him there. Ande performed “Peaceful Easy Feeling” which was requested as a dedication by an audience member. Ande and Rhonda then performed a duet, “Dedicated to the One I Love".
Ande said that being from Kentucky he had to do a country song (“Blue Eyes Crying”, I think). He then sang “A horse with No Name” by America and a cover of “Space Oddity” followed. Ande's crowd interaction this night was adequate but not thrilling. As you know by now, I like a bit of performer interaction. Things like commenting on what the crowd is saying in chat helps me feel as if I am doing more than just listening and watching my screen.
“Tears in Heaven”, performed flawlessly, was followed by “Love Me Do”, complete with harmonica parts and personal touches which gave the song some character, As the evening’s performance was ending, Ande covered “Rocky Raccoon” then announced the next act and ended his show.
For a very nice hour of 70's era music which will bring back memories of good times, be sure to catch Ande Foggarty.
